Feminist Alliance for Rights (FAR), CHANGE, and the IPPFWHR hosted a webinar event on May 4th about the Global Gag Rule and what steps we can take to end it. Here is the link to the video.

We are in the process of gathering signatures for a letter addressed to the U.S. Congress to support the passage of a new law, known as the Global HER Act, to permanently end the Global Gag Rule which has done incredible harm to women and girls worldwide, especially in countries that receive overseas development assistance from the U.S. The Global Gag Rule has also stifled free speech on abortion and sexual and reproductive health rights in general.

We are collecting signatures for the letter to the U.S. Congress until June 4th through this petition: http://tinyurl.com/ENDtheGGRnow. Please take a moment to sign the petition and share it with your networks. This is an important opportunity to make sure that the voices of women in the Global South and in marginalized communities in the Global North are heard and have a definitive impact on a critical policy issue in the U.S., which has undermined the human rights of women and girls worldwide. The proponents of the bill need your support to see it through.  Since our deadline is only three weeks away, it is important to disseminate the petition as widely as possible and as soon as possible.

We are counting on the support of anyone who cares about women’s health and human rights as well as democracy and free speech is welcome to sign the petition and seize this unprecedented opportunity to abolish one of the most harmful provisions of U.S. foreign policy to date.
