Employment

CWGL has a small staff and only occasionally has openings. Openings are posted on this page and at the Rutgers University Human Resources page at http://uhr.rutgers.edu. CWGL receives numerous unsolicited resumes and does retain them for future consideration for at least one year. Unfortunately, due to the volume of resumes we receive and time constraints, we are not able to acknowledge unsolicited inquiries for employment. Due to recent virus warnings, CWGL will not accept unsolicited resumes that are sent as attachments to email. If you would still like to send an unsolicited resume, we ask that you send it by fax or postal mail.

December 2011: CWGL is currently searching for an Administrative Director. Please apply online at the Rutgers University Human Resources page at http://uhr.rutgers.edu/jobs/JobDetail.aspx?pst_num=11-001447.

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities at CWGL

CWGL welcomes inquiries from those seeking internships, independent study arrangements and volunteer opportunities. We do not have a form for application but do require a letter of interest which reflects a preferred project area of the Center, dates or period of the year, total hours available, and a copy of a current resume. We are open to student and non-student applicants.

If there is intern or volunteer recruitment for a specific project or event, it will be posted on this site, along with the experience and qualification we seek.

General Guidelines:

  • Please visit our website and thoroughly review our programming, articles and some publications so you are reasonably familiar with CWGL mission and current agenda.
  • If you are proposing a new area of research or activity, please describe clearly how it is compatible with CWGL’s work.
  • CWGL is based at Rutgers University and is committed to opportunities for those affiliated here.
  • CWGL will provide travel support or reimbursement for approved expenses while you affiliated with the Center (example: attending a meeting in New York).
  • For those applicants who are not affiliated with Rutgers or reside in the region, please understand that we do not have resources to support your housing and travel needs.

In past experience, interns and volunteers from other schools or geographies have been able to rely on networks of family or friends in the New Jersey / New York area for support. It is very difficult to come to New Brunswick without resources (expensive and limited housing options and public transportation that can be fragmented depending on where one needs to travel). It is helpful to state how you will address these supports in your letter.

Please send your materials and request to cwgl@rci.rutgers.edu and place "Internship Request" and your name in the subject line.
