- April 26, 2013 (6:30-8:30pm): South Asian Studies Program presents: Young India's Tahrir moment and after. The speaker, Dr. Ayesha Kidwai is professor of Linguistics (JNU, Delhi,India). She is also an activist and a member of Jawaharlal Nehru University's Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment. The rape and eventual death of a young medical student in December 2012 caused a massive upsurge, hitherto unprecedented, amongst young men and women and became the cause of a serious churning in Indian society on the issue of women's rights. Dr. Kidwai discussed the events surrounding the event. Co-sponsored by: Department of Sociology, SAS, Social and Behavioral Sciences Dean's Office and Center for Women's Global Leadership (CWGL).

- April 11, 2013: CWGL Executive Director Radhika Balakrishnan joined Chris Hayes on his new MSNBC show, All In with Chris Hays. Dr. Balakrishnan appeared on a pnael with former Prime Minister of Greece and President of the Socialist International, George Papandreaou. They dicussed the economic crisis, bailouts, deficits and austerity at the global level.
